gib71lpc Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I have a 1973 LPC which I bought new in early 1974. All original parts, wiring, pots, etc. The pot code is 1377348. The pots also have an additional stamped code - 70-028. Anybody have a clue what this code means? Contacted CTS but no reply yet. Thanks. Quote
badbluesplayer Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 The pot code 1377348 - the 137 is the manufacturer code for CTS, the 7348 means it was produced during the 48th week of '73 (1973). Quote
gib71lpc Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 Thanks. I already knew the CTS pot code. It's the 70-028 code I am looking to learn about. Quote
gib71lpc Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Stumbled upon an answer thanks to Vintage Guitar and Bass. Pointed me to a Les Paul schematic and a note written in that schematic that #70-028 is a Gibson part # and that it is a 300K pot. Other reference links says it is a linear taper but I have not verified this yet... Quote
badbluesplayer Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Doh! Yeah, that's the part number. Quote
