TrashShark
I’ve been heavily considering buying this gorgeous b-25 at a local shop. The question I have is about the bridge. They say it’s original but I notice that it’s not belly up, is that common for a certain year? It’s a non plastic adjustable saddle wooden bridge. I’ve tried to do some research and aside from some 12 strings I see all of them have their bridge belly up so I’ve been curious.
ksdaddy
They went to a belly down sometime in 1967 or 68.
bobouz
Recognizing that these changes did not necessarily occur on January 1st & there will be some overlaps, here are the basics: > 1966: Last year of the plastic belly-up bridge. > 1967: Rosewood belly-up bridge. > 1968: Rosewood belly-down bridge. zombywoof
I read somewhere that Gibson built a ton of B25s during the 1960s, something like 35,000 of them. Edited December 24, 2019 by zombywoof
TrashShark
That makes sense, the shop identified it as a 68’ so the belly down rosewood bridge appears to be correct. Thanks for the help everyone!
