If so - any chance for a little compare and contrast? the epi sounds more gibsonesque, plus as a semi-hollow not quite as woody sounding but it has good resistance to feedback, the gretsch pickups are crisper/brighter, but it still has a pretty smooth sound. it's a hollow body, and it will feedback if it's pushed hard. Something one has to learn to contended with when using a hollow body, you can't avoid it, just control it.

These are great sounding amps, but as we've discussed, they have their own center of gravity. you don't want to be moving em around a lot. I have a few Journeyman cases one for my uke, and another for my mando, no issues with those. I have a molded gator 335 case for my sheraton, that one is fine too. Ironically, the most expensive gator case available is the one I bought for the Gretsch. <...snip...> I had a Gator road rack case that the springs in the latches would give out I have a Gator Les Paul type guitar case and the handle keeps coming off, so the handle is affixed with cable ties now I have a Gator/Frameworks music stand light that quit working after a year I have a Gator/Frameworks computer stand that no amount of tightening will keep the legs from collapsing. Perhaps I just had a run of bad luck, but 4 out of 4 is a bad record. I'll think twice before I buy another product from them. I have 3 SKB racks that I bought in the 1980s that are still working and an SKB ES-330/Casino case that takes all kinds of abuse but doesn't transfer it to the guitar. kidblast
That's 100% fail.. no getting around it. I could have a new gator case here in a few days. I'll live regret it at some point down the road. They look really nice, looks are deceiving.
mihcmac
I had a Gator case with one of my Ibanez in it that slid out the back of a pickup on the freeway going about 70, not much damage, my guitar survived, intact, still in tune when I got to the gig.

MichaelT
Nice guitar! Congratulations on your purchase. The singer in our band has a Gretsch and I can't remember what the model is. I love the way it plays and sounds. It's a fun guitar to play.

A lot depends on what your case is for? To protect your guitar or to look pretty in your collection for storage. My favorite cases are usually beat up and have travel stickers all over them. 🙂 Edited January 11, 2020 by mihcmac

If the new Gators aren't up to snuff then you gotta do what you gotta do.. I have hard cases for most of my guitars but primarily use 1 old SG case and 1 old Les Paul case that are beat up that magically seem to fit the rest of my guitars.. Nope Fail! @144 bucks, it's kind of disappointing it's put together this poorly Thats sad, you would think since the Chinese children go that 10 cent an hour raise a few years ago there would be a little more attention to detail 🤭. Lungimsam
Blue loctite those Gretsch strap buttons or they will auto unscrew and guitar crashes to floor. Ask me how I know. Duo- Jet crash. Better yet install a straplok.

Murph
I really like the semi hollows. My ES-339 was my favorite electric ever and if I still had any interest in electrics, I would have kept it. Very cool guitar.

I answered my own question, the studs top is fitted with a female phillips head scew cap. it was a can of corn.. Strap lock buttons on guitar? Check!
