Melody Maker Identification

Recommended Posts

I purchased a 1960 Gibson Melody Maker D from a seemingly reputable guitar and gear shop thru Reverb. Very good condition and looks like the real thing, but I'm having trouble finding information based off of the 3 digit serial number of "553" stamped on back of headstock. I'm not sure if the rest of the numbers were warn off or not. The guitar is due for delivery this afternoon and I will be able to inspect it more thoroughly.  Here is a picture of serial number/head from the ad on Reverb. Any advice would be appreciated.  I can send more pix of guitar when I get her. Thanks!
