Coming home from the Railroad in Lincoln Ne. to Omaha with 3 carpool guys, I was worn out and tired. Playing music and trying my best to stay awake. Made it back to Omaha and was happy I made it, the other three guys were all asleep. Cant say why? Suddenly I just passed out. My Saturn Vue hit the middle concrete divider and of course woke me up immediately and I was trying to get control of the car pulling over on the side of the road. The exit ramp was there so I rolled up to it stopping. Of course everyone was awake now and we got out to see my front drivers tire all split open. Absolutely No damage on the SUV. Not even a scratch. No one saw the car hit the divider and thought it was a faulty tire blowing out. I got praises from all 3 guys of doing a fantastic job of controlling the car with a blow out at 65 MPH and no one getting hurt. Of course I was totally embarrassed but kept my mouth shut. Lol, Better to be a hero instead of an idiot right? Things like that make you say thank you every once in awhile...

Yes, We all took turns driving our 3 day rotation. That broke it up. We each met at the same grocery store at 5:10 am and the cut off time was 5:25 am and took turns driving the 45 minutes to Lincoln, Havelock Shops to work and back. So that gave us 9 days rest from driving. I did that for 24 years and 4 months to finish out my Railroad retirement. Don't miss it either.

Sometimes when I was in-between bands or just bored, I used take my rig and plug-in at one of the Ramada's in Papago Park an let out some self expression. I bought a few sets of strings recently, at one of the brick and mortar stores in my area, that has survived by doing call in orders. Quite a few shops here are suffering as they rely on tourist trade that is gone. Got to play my red Les Paul through some tubes in the open air, it was quite refreshing. I bet it was refreshing. I haven't played outdoors in a long time. It's too darn hot here to play outside now but maybe when Fall comes around. I'm about ready to put a larger reverb tank in my amp. It's the one big weak point in our amps, IMO. I have a reverb pedal so I haven't been in a hurry to make the change but, now that we're talking about playing outdoors, I think I'll do it soon. Carrying a guitar and amp is enough for me. I don't want to drag my pedalboard too. Speaking of pedals, I really like my new Boss RC-3. It's a nice looper. Have fun!
Mr. Gibson
Not much today, went to Mass out on the reservation to serve Mass and Help out the Elderly Priest who's subbing for our regular parish priest as he's taking a few days off to visit family in Montana. Am I an altarboy or an altarman if I'm 58? Went town for DQ food and give Mara some driving experience, she's doing good so far and will have her license when she turns 15 in January. Retired
I had an amusing day. I took my Doberman Pinscher to the lake at 6:00am for a walk around the sidewalk there. The humidity started to set in when we got to the Fishing dock. The bicycles also where getting too many zooming past us. So we turned around to head back to the SUV. I decided to take Sundance on the mowed path along the fence way back, and no one was back there. At the car, I checked him and me out for any ticks and found none. At home, Debbie was sitting by him on the couch petting him. She saw a tick on the couch and you would think she found a RAT! Lol. My gosh, I took it and flushed it away. Then, I grabbed his brush and took him out back brushing him 3 times with both sides of the brush. One side had wires and the other side smith. Nothing, I checked him out really close, and then gave him a bath. He was clean. Sundance comes back inside, and the rest of the day, You would think Debbie had lice? She kept scratching and itching, Asking me 3 times if she had a tick on her back? I checked her out and said NO! Nothings there. She kept itching anyway. All in the mind Deb. It was almost as funny as when she found a mouse at the other house we first started out with. She started screaming bloody murder. I ran to the kitchen to see what was wrong. She was on top of the table screaming, Mouse Mouse, Mouse! I couldn't stop laughing. My Gosh, I said. That mouse is more terrified of you than you him! SteveFord
Worked from 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM, played guitar, played with my tortoises, did not fight with the wife, schemed on an upcoming guitar purchase, fooled around on the internet, going to read a book, play guitar, sleep, do it all over again tomorrow. Not very exciting but it could be worse.
Sgt. Pepper
My albums needed more room, so I built a record crate. I spaced out and forgot I needed a board for the back, so I had to make a second trip to Lowe's. It will probably hold just over a hundred. Edited July 7, 2020 by Sgt. Gosh, Mine was supposed to arrive in a week, Seems like 3 to 4 weeks now, Still hasn't shown up. I checked with the guitar shop, They have no clue. They think it's this coved slowing everything up. I mowed the front and back today, It looks much better, Then I played some also. Interesting, I thought I could set up a guitar ok but went back and learned a bunch more. Pickup height and tail piece adjustment. Anyone do that here? I never do nut checks as I have no clue how to take one out without messing up the guitar? Thought, Maybe I should take one to a luthier once?

Retired
20 minutes ago, ghost_of_fl said: Pickup height makes a big difference. For me it's about balancing the volume of the pickups against each other so when you change pickups, the mix stays the same. An often overlooked adjustment is pole height. If your pickups have screws for poles, you might be able to raise and lower the individual poles using those screws. You can do that to balance the volume of each string. Thanks, Think I'll do one step at a time first. I will try some of what I learned on a cheap guitar first and see how it turns out. Yeah, I never tried adjusting those either. My son has a really cheap Vendetta so maybe I'll practice on that?

I love Gibsons the most but the ones I really like are just way too high. My cousin, who taught me to play, had a gorgeous 60's Gibson in black with white trim. Thought it was a semi hollow? His girl friend stoled it and he couldn't get it back and later on he died. I tried to get it but no such luck. I have one Gibson, A gold top standard. The one that's coming is a Epiphone custom Riviera with 3 P90's. That will make my 3rd Epiphone.
