WTH did you do today?

Recommended Posts

I would have liked to have been able to stay on with the railroad, but 3rd shift for years before I can get on 2nd or 1st shift and being in my 50's is not for me. Management were every tool in the toolbox too.

And my job being a contractor for NASA is a sweet gig.

Drove the wife's new Subaru into work today to pick up new computer stuff and managed to bring it back undamaged.  That was a relief.  I'm real good on a motorcycle, cars just seem big and weird.

Got the new computer hooked up, got the new system going and my files wouldn't transfer because the drives kept going down.  Ya gotta love our IT boffins.

Best part of the day was quitting time with a three day weekend coming up.

UFC 4 on PlayStation. Every user review online says it's crap, but then the gaming community is a bunch of anemic virgins with unhealthy anime interests, so it figures they would say that. I found the ground game very confusing and the learning curve for that appears to be vertical rather than steep. Otherwise, I like it. It's a bit "arcade-y" but not in a bad way.

More of a fighting game than an MMA sim (like UFC 3), but I like it for what it is so far. That's my weekend sorted.

I tried to be like Steve Ford but I won the bid on only one guitar. It's a 50th Anniversary Martin D-35. It should be at the house by around the 16th. Hope I get more than a box with a packing.

Good deal on the Martin.  I thought you were nuts when you sold the one you had.

I've been looking at one, myself, but wonder if it wouldn't be too much like the HD-28V?

It only went to fund the D-41.  The D-35 has non scalloped bracing at 1/4", your HD-28V has scalloped bracing at 5/16".

It's raining like a ***** here, so I backed the serial-killer van out of the garage a bit, and spent a few hours cleaning up an old bicycle I bought from a neighbor lady the other day.

I paid her $40 for it, which is probably $20 more than it's worth, but I had a variety of parts leftover from some 'fix up some bikes for kid's Christmas' charity thing I had been involved with a few years ago.

Cleaned her up, oiled her down, and rubbed some wax into everything.
Applied chain lube, adjusted the chain and derailleurs, put new handgrips on the handlebars, hung a small carry-bag from the down-tube, and put a new saddle on as well.

Can wait to give her a spin.
But again, it's raining like a ***** here.

So there's that.

All of them!

I was so dejected over that Empty Box from Canada that I never really played the replacement Classic with the P90s.  I took a couple pictures, made sure everything worked, did a set up and stuck it aside.

Last night I spent a few hours with it, today I played it for another 3 or 4 and it mates up really well with that Marshall Origin 20.  I have decided that Classic is a good one and so is that amp.  The DSL 40 has more controls and gizmos and stuff but I'm happier with the Origin, it's just fiddle with a few knobs and you've got that instant Plastic On The Pickguard ICONIC tone (more or less).

The friggin' sticky neck kept coming back on that GOTW Explorer so I did some more reasearch and somebody mentioned Carnauba Wax.  I forgot all about that so out to the garage, a wipe down with lighter fluid, a good scrub with Mother's Gold Carnauba Paste Wax and it's slickern'n snot on a doorknob as an old roommate used to say.  The Mother's has a mild abrasive in it so it'll cut through the gunk but won't screw up the finish.

I did that on my old Satin 335 and it still feels really good and that was years ago.

Also working on another big box to keep me off the streets while my neighbors happily infect each other.

At what point do you reach Iconic Overload?

Well, we spent $380.00 on my Saturn Vue. tires rotated, oil changed, New filteres, Air & cabin, New wiper blades, front and back, Airconditioning wasn't working so they checked it all out for leaks and filled it. Works now. Front end lined up. Ready to go for another 10 years. Haha. Deb told me...."No your Not, You need a new car!"

Today was a day of three 1hr. & 45min baseball games for our grandson (started at 8:00AM and last game ended at about 1:30PM.  Then this evening we went to our granddaughter’s soft ball games.  Fortunately, they lost the second game.....lol.....otherwise they’d still be playing the third game.  I’m getting too old to burn the candle at both ends against the middle.  That’s for people like Janis, Cash, and Jerry Lee.

Well my Tele was in rare form, it didn't kill my back and it stayed in tune not mention it sounded great through my China valves.

All day video editing. I'm not great at it, so took time. I was listened to a live Ry Cooder show from 1977 I hadn't heard before. Mid-afternoon took a late constitutional to visit Cherry. The walk each way is 30 minutes so I had Ry playing 'Dark End of the Street' in my head each way.

Only the ones that work.... This non-destructive Duesenberg is great with lots of dive bomb range.

This guitar was amazing yesterday and the Slick 90's going into a valve amp were killer.

It may have been my imagination, but the Slick 90's seem to be a little more sensitive to line noise than my Mean 90's.

As little as humanly possible.

Woke up,  watched SNL on the laptop, read a bit, went back to bed and then boldly sprung into action and bought a guitar that I've been thinking about for two years.  I procrastinated as long as possible and it was getting down to you snooze you lose time.

It's either going to be a really disappointing pile or really good, one of those.

Details to follow next week.

Played my Blueshawk off and on through my new tube amp all day.. Life is good............

Deb was off sewing with Dorthy, so I went out and picked up tree debris in the back yard.  Eventually gave that up to high winds blowing crap down everywhere, including a good size branch. Thought I better quit before one hit me in the head. So I went in and got the new Riviera out and played her for awhile, then grabbed the Casino Coupe and gave it a turn. By that time, Deb called and was coming home with 2 iced teas.

I thought about getting a good acoustic in the future, I like the tones of the Guilds and recently I was listening to a masterbuilt Epiphone. It sounded good. What would you recomend for $600.00 or below?

For me it was the 2 guitars that had the P-90's in today. Just love playing  Cover of the rolling stone, but when I sing along, It just doesn't sound right. That's my hearing aids and a microphone sound. Don't ever loose your hearing guys like me. I dream about what normal hearing truly sounds like?
