WTH did you do today?

Removed the UST from under the saddle on my Epiphone IBG Hummingbird - made a new saddle from a bone blank - aged it a cup of water and tea-bags - treated the bridge and fretboard with Music Nomad F-One conditioner - strung it up with some GHS thin-core .012's PB's.

Tracked down an old buddy in Texas and one thing led to another and I wound up buying a 955 Triumph Sprint that belonged to a late friend from him.

He also had another one that his grandson crashed and he said, I'll tell you what, I need the space, I'll give you that one for the cost of shipping SO soon I'll have two more Triumph Sprints showing up to keep me out of mischief.

I don't know what I'm going to do with them all but I do enjoy fixing up motorcycles so that will keep me out of mischief for a bit.

You do love reptiles,  motor cycles,  and empty shipping box’s.

A buddy of mine had back surgery, sold his Triumph to my old boss who gave it to his wife who proceeded to drop it a few times and gave up AND the fellow with the back surgery just became the most miserable, nastiest SOB ever since he sold his bike.  ***** ***** ***** pain in my you know where carrying on yelling just shut up already you grouchy old etc.

SO, one of those two bikes that I committed to is going to mr grumpy back surgery guy to give him something to look forward to!  He's all happy now.

My good deed for the day.

This morning I had my second cataract surgery.  Left eye today, the right one two weeks ago.  The surgery is a breeze, recovery is fast, and your vision is greatly improved, especially for night-time driving.  The vast majority of patients have really good results.  If you ever need it done, don’t hesitate.  You’ll go into surgery under a very light anesthetic and be out of surgery and awake 10-15 minutes later.

Better Half & I   had lunch with our youngest son.   First time with him since he ran an Ironman up in Waco 2 weeks ago.  Roughly 2 mile swim followed by 100 mile bike ride by a 26.2 mile marathon   An unusual way to spend 12 hours on a Saturday.   We hung out with his wife and daughter and our oldest son - going from one part of the race to another to wave and shout as he went by.   Some despicable people brought cowbells.  I wanted to tell them  "Need LESS cowbell", but knew they'd just give me a blank stare.   Wanted to implant it with the tip of my boot where all cowbells belong.     After a very long day - we left him and his family and crowded back in our truck to find the battery was dead.   Found a kind soul to jump us.  He was from Idaho. Drove here to Texas by himself to run the Ironman.  What a great country !

Honorable Number Three Son - proceeded to tell  us at lunch that he's scheduled to run a marathon in CA  somewhere east of LA in their foothills in 2 weeks.  I think we need to get him some help.  The furthest I ever ran was a mile.  If God intended us to go further, he would have given us wheels in our heels.

Wife and I walked 12 miles in Kauai. Then ate a lot of food and was caught in a deluge rainstorm.

Had an amazing dinner then got caught in another deluge rainstorm on bicycles. Rode to a discount store and got 2 rain jackets. Rode while we laughed like 2 kids. It was so much fun.

This is what the Islands are good for, getting caught in a deluge and returning to childhood. Enjoy....

Glad to hear it.  I am beginning to develop cataracts but not nearly enough yet to have surgery.  I am in the UK so could get it on the NHS or go private which many people do.  My eyes are monitored as I have optical hypertension (or stable glaucoma) and I take drops every night.  In fact I'm going to hospital for my 2nd eye check up this year, tomorrow morning.

I've always been short-sighted and worn glasses.  In the last 10 years my long vision has improved a small bit but now I need reading glasses to read any book or my shopping bill, for instance.  I haven't had an eye test since 2019 and have been putting it off (even though I get it free) as it will mean new glasses which cost a lot over here.

Fixing fence for 3 days. Also the bulls were fighting and pushed a shed off its foundation so finally jacked it up and pushed it back in place.

They finished the sunflowers today so I can get back to hauling the hay, didn’t want to haul while they were combining, it would  be a traffic jam on the road and there’s no room to pull over for the semi.

I pray your test goes well and you don’t need new glasses.

I'm thinking nap.

I did change strings on the Standard. Happy to say it has the perfect amount of relief. It can go all straight, NP, but it needs that hair of relief to feel just right.

Secure in this, I shall doze off.

Escorted  Cherry to her church this morning (an hour round walk). Lovely bright day but chilly. On her return we enjoyed some time together before she drove me to the Community Centre for my Covid booster jab. We parted and I walked home. Weather still nice.

Haven't eaten much today yet. Nor played any guitar. put bins out for tomorrows collection. A very pleasant Sunday.
