SG badly repaired headstock

Recommended Posts

I picked this up at a market today
as you can see the headstock has broken and suffered a very bad repair it seems solid enough as is.
I would like to build up the back of the neck and then take this hideous peice of wood off covering truss rod or replace it with something better.

it looks like screws have been put in to top wooden piece,  is it a 1984 model

The good neck is straight, frets and electronis are good

I truly hope that cost you 50 bucks.

That is downright painful to look at.  May the force be with you in your endeavor.

Looks like a dog chewed up the back of the neck/headstock.

I think this takes the cake for worst neck/headstock repair.

If you paid more than $30, then you got taken to the cleaners.

I would give it some Penicillin cause it looks infected.

I'm thinking termites. Strip for parts and bury the rest.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but that thing looks like a health hazard 😕

After reading all those really clever comments, I think I tore a muscle laughing.

So now how about a bit of good advice? Any Luthier worth his salt can fix this, so if the rest of the guitar is good, or can be saved, look one up and get it repaired.
