Identify my 2 pickup SG with Custom neck please

Hi there,

My favourite SG was built in Nashville in 1992 and has 2 pick-ups with what looks like

the Custom style neck. I am trying to find out more about this model (someone suggested

its a 2 pickup Custom, which i didn't know existed). Not sure how to add a pic to the forum, sorry.

Black, full white pickguard (both sides of pickups) Block inlays, Custom headstock ( SG stamped on truss rod cover)

Any advice welcome

Cheers

I can't say I recall an early 90's 2 p/u Custom (that doesn't mean it didn't exist, I just don't recall one).. I am curious if you pulled off the PG to make sure it was never routed for 3 pickups? Some people don't get along with playing with that middle pickup in there and maybe it was pulled and another p/g was fitted? Not saying that is the case, just guessing. Maybe someone will chime in and give more info about your SG...

Hi Denny,

Thanks for the update, I have never taken the pg off to check, always assumed it was some kind of hybrid between std and custom.

There is very little info or evidence of such a model, so still looking for answers. If I hadn't just put on the best strings available

i'd have the PG off tonight !!!!! It will be going in for a set-up soon, so may find out then......

It reminds of this custom done by Swmcv2007

I love my 04' SG Standard. It's all I need.

Want some pics? I have some before's and afters.

Here's before' date=' I would've taken more pictures but we all know what a modern ebony SG Standard looks like:

Here's what it looks like after some personal modifications:

The only problems I've experienced with this baby are my fault. It plays like a dream, a baby could shred on mine. I wasn;t a fan of the pickups but pickups are replaceable.

Could just be a one of custom job done by someone.

but who knows what will turn up, see what the tech says when you take it in for a set up!

Was in GC a couple weeks ago trying out a VOS to go with my '61, when I saw your guitar. I asked what it was, and the salesman told me about it being the Guitar of the Month. I forget for when, though. Nice axe! BTW I was in Scotland a few years ago. Beautiful country & really friendly people!

Thanks Dickey,

We try our best to be friendly in Scotland, we love to party and make friends, not enemies !!!!

This really is bizarre, very little info on this SG available and there is no routing for a 3rd pickup so it's always been 2.

I love this guitar and can't believe i've waited so long to find out more about it, It sounds amazing and I still believe the SG is

th nicest guitar I've ever owned.

Anyone with more ideas please post them, Gibosn have asked for more detail from me (pics/lables/serial/inlays etc) and

hopefully they will be able to tell the scoop on my amazing SG !!!!

Cheers
