Why?

I put GFS Mean 90s in an LTD Faux-LP guitar that was given to me in trade for some of the Band-in-a-Box styes I created.

They were very P90 sounding, perhaps a bit brighter than a soap bar, but so close that only someone who played a lot of P90 could notice.

And since one was RW/RP using both pups cancelled the hum in the two trouble spot gigs I play (each once a year).

I also highly recommend the GFS Mean 90s.

Guitar Fetish makes quality products IMO.

I found this used G400 in a local music store and couldn't stop playing it, so for a $180 I had to take it home. Then I added the GFS Mean 90's and it just screamed.  So in addition I added a Les Trem II and a Roller Bridge. Even though I have others that are much higher end, this is one of my favorite go-to guitars, also it is very light weight.

These GFS Mean 90's are one my favorite "humbucker sized P90's" for sound, quality and price including a silver plated chassis that may have something to do with its unusually low noise. they come in chrome, nickel and gold.. I have them in one of my SG's and about to order another set for a project guitar.

There are many other manufacturers of "humbucker sized P90's" in a wide range of prices..

google search..... https://www.google.com/search?q=humbucker+sized+P90's&client=safari&rls=en&sxsrf=ALeKk01C4_J5boDir9o87NWXUdQUDnrkkw:1588100927604&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwir0KD96IvpAhUJvJ4KHXM5CGYQ_AUoAXoECBAQAw

P90's are good at keeping the bad aliens away..

Wow, Thanks Mihcmac. Yes, I checked out a few demos and compared them to other pickups. (Sort of hard right now because my right hearing aid went out so I only can hear on my left right now till I can get in and have it fixed) One guy gave a demo with Mean 90's in the neck & 59's in the bridge. I could hear a difference but barely. I thought the 90's sounded a bit more. Yeah, those are the cheapest I've seen.  And I get Notes approval too huh?  Well....at that low price, I found what I'm getting for my Birthday present.

I just turned 67 on the 22nd.  Thanks guys!!

That's a nice SG. I don't have an SG but the Les Paul my son gave me for my Standard, I can't figure out. He was going to sell it as he doesn't really play. It is a Epiphone Pelham Blue Limited Edition Custom Pro that he said he payed around $850.00 or so for it new. My Standard was only around $400.00 new and is all Black with white binding of course. I told him, Don't sell it?  I'll buy it from you, so he just gave it to me and then asked for mine so he could have something to play around with. Well, I guess one day he will get everything back anyway when I go.  I've been a gun collector for the last 40 some years and didn't have the room to store them all but since he bought a very huge safe, I passed down half my collection to him early.

I kind of feel like that when I see a good-looking young gal in a silky/cotten summer dress and the wind is blowing....lol.....Then it hits me:  I'm old enough to be her grandfather and besides, that young stud with her can't be more than 25......lol........Anyway, I hear where you're coming from.  We all find our peaceful place wherever we can.  Playing guitar helps me get there.

At $180 you got a great deal.

If I didn't love my Parkers, the SG/G400 style is my favorite and probably what I'd gig with.

Notes

I have used GFS humbucker sized P90's on several guitars. My Franken-Splorer below I tried a few Dream 90's on and settled on the Mean 90's.

The Franken-Splorer was a DIY kit was a left handed Trem experiment. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this mod, but the left handed Trem works really well.
