JD082570 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 Hey all! My grandfather gave me his Gibson jazz acoustic years ago. I play it every once in a while but was interested to find out some information about it. I took a pic of the number I could see from the F hole. What can that tell me? Quote
j45nick Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 We cant tell you much just from the serial number, A photo of the whole guitar would provide a lot more information. Unfortunately, that serial number was duplicated in at least two different eras, and without a photo, we can't tell you which it might fall in to. That serial number was used in 1964, but also in the mid-1970s. What does all the lettering and wording on the label say, from top to bottom and everything in between? Quote
zombywoof Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 If the guitar was built in the 1970s I would expect it to have a square label so based on the serial number '64 seems a likely candidate. Quote
