SteveFord Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Indeed it is, a 2012. Somebody stuck Seymour Duncans in it so I figured this would be the perfect candidate for some black Gibson P90s. A little set up, new strings and a LOT of lemon oil and it plays like buttah (as they say). 2 Quote
kidblast Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 nice, duncan p90s are a good choice. Looks killer. Quote
SteveFord Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Thanks, looking down the neck at that black peg head is quite the sight. I'll stick in Gibson P90s to keep it kind of authentic, sorta. Quote
uncle fester Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Awesome... Lovin' me the firebirds. Congrats. Quote
kidblast Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 Tuff call there, both Gibson and Duncans are really fine P90 pickups. I'd probably do the same too tho.. Quote

I think you got to rock it as is... see how many women throw their undergarments at you and then make a decision. If it's less than normal, I'd swap out the p'ups... 1 Quote

Karloff Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) those look like the same Duncan Firebird pickups I put in mine. they're the hotter of the Firebird pickups they offer. I like them. beautiful guitar Steve. Edited July 1, 2020 by Karloff Quote

SteveFord Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Thank you, one and all. I did have an oversized pair of bloomers hit me in the head when I was playing an SG Faded a few years back, does that count? That was followed by a dead cat and a half a can of warm beer. The P90s for the looks, really. I saw one as a kid back in the 70s and just was so intrigued by the guitar and I always wanted to own one similar to it. I have this one and the slightly less iconic 2014. The lack of nibs does allow me to fly over the frets, though. This black one, not so much with the fret flying, you know how those nibs get in the way. There may be another surprise or two somewhere down the road. We'll see. Back to work or no "new" guitars for Fun Boy here. Quote
jaxson50 Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) How about Lollar's ? Jason makes killer minis and soap bar P90s, Edited July 2, 2020 by jaxson50 Quote
Sgt. Pepper Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) What is next the Slash Double-neck or the Chuck Berry ES-350T? Edited July 1, 2020 by Sgt. Pepper 1 Quote
SteveFord Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 (edited) If they make a double neck ES-350T in gold top with dual Bigsbys and a piezo in the necks I'm in like Flynn! Edited July 1, 2020 by SteveFord Quote
