Can two '59 335's share the same serial number?

I'm considering a trade for a  2013 '59 ES-335 dot reissue, but while learning to decode the serial number, I found a guitar with the same serial number online:

The obvious explanation is that it's the same guitar, however the tuners are different, and he claims it's all original.  

Am I right to be confused?  Can two guitars have the same serial number?   Could one (both) be fake?
