Gibsonacc
Hi, im curious about the maple top and how hard is it...can i it endure finger nails to be specific or should i be more aware of how to play without getting wild?
mihcmac
I don't think t you can hurt the Maple top much.. The Nitrocellulose finish is another matter, but its pretty tough..
Gibsonacc
@mihcmac cheers, will u tell me more about the nitro finish, is it inclined to easy cosmetic problems?are micro scratches common? to be honest i feel like this material is easily scratched (maybe because it feels like a bubbly soft and a slippery one) Edited September 1, 2020 by Gibsonacc
mihcmac
Nitrocellulose is a very hard fast drying Lacquer finish that continues to harden with age. It Gibson uses it because they can put on a very thin tough layer to protect your guitar and enhance the sound of your guitar. Nitrocellulose is very toxic, when applying you need to use a well ventilated spray booth and wear a respirator...
merciful-evans
I dont think you can avoid minor marking of the finish. Regular playing will eventually show up marks where hand & fingers dwell on the body. You can clean it of course. For more stubborn marks you can use naptha. Getting wild? er... dunno! Yer on yer own there 😉
