IanHenry Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Interesting Andertons video comparing Custom Shop 58 reissue to a Tom Murphey aged 58. 1 Quote
merciful-evans Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I watched all of it. This one evidently slipped past my radar before. One of the comments under was "This vid clearly shows that we're all nuts". Quote
mihcmac Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I found it very interesting, Pete's TM LP was able to get 1% more of the desired sound, which I could actually hear in my headphones. The prices on these things is totally ridiculous. When I first started shopping for guitars in the early 60's LP's were only 3 digits, but that was a lot for the time.. Quote
rct Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 No offense, I prefer this Tom Murphy. Have a few of his from out there. rct Quote
merciful-evans Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Yes its crazy money; especially here in the uk. If I was rich enough I might consider buying one if I really liked it. Its only a matter of scale. If I were poorer, I could do without my USA / UK guitars completely and be perfectly happy with my Squier & CoolZ I notice a much bigger sound difference (than the vid) between my Les Paul and a Hagstrom Deuce. The Deuce sounds more like a Les Paul to my ears at least. I still love the LP, and its going nowhere; but neither is the Hagstrom. Until you pick it up, its all just wood & wires. Quote
