Converted Gibson 12 string OMG!

Easy Peasy restore to get it playable.

Looks like an amateur saddle replacement. Right out of the box, no contouring. One of the pins looks like an ink pen cap.

Set of tuners, new full sized saddle and a set of strings. Might have a top split. Needs closer, inside examination.

As long as the top is good, not a bad guit tar.. A bit spendy for the condition though.

Appears they put one of those metal plates with a "D" ring on it for a strap hanger... That'll take a little time to fill in.

No financial incentive to take something like that on though..... It's a $500-$700 guitar on a good day in good condition. Repro tuners would run close to $100. That guitar should sell for no more that $300-$400 to make it worth the time and effort.

Well someone obviously thinks it is worth it as is! I wouldn't do it. 8-[

Johnt and I played 2 or 3 of these about 6 months ago all of which were around the £1k mark which is roughly US$1,400.

I could be your agent UK, KSD.

We could call ourselves Fixem, Shipham and Flogit - Vintage and Modified Guitars to the Gentry and the Insane.

I'll have my people talk to yours and see where we go, yes?

Supply and demand is a double edged sword. You guys get raped dry when it comes to old Gibsons. Not that the streets are paved with them over here of course, but some can be procured without a problem sitting down afterwards.

We have a similar problem with the new ones too.

Nice big crack from the bridge to the tail as well. I wonder what the bridge plate looks like from below. I bet that split came when they drilled new holes through the top for the new bridge. The saddle is ridiculous and obviously broken.
