guitar_randy
What type of tuner do you guys use when checking your intonation? Does it pretty much need to be an expensive strobe tuner to get an accurate reading? With any of the tuners I have or try when I am checking the 12th fret, the needle on the tuner doesn't set still to get an accurate reading .It seems to be constantly moving back and forth to the point I can't really tell where it stops. Is this because I need to use a better, more expensive tuner?
Riffster
A good tuner is better but not a must, I use a Boss TU-15 and it works great. This is just a guess but maybe you are plucking the string too hard. At the 12th fret you need a lot less attack when checking for intonation. Also, if your strings are really old they may be contributing to the problem.

MikeRom
What ever is handy, usually my intellitouch. How close does it need to be? Seriously ... I go for it being in tune for the longest period (attack and decay). Some only worry about one or the other. Also depends on how steady you can hold the note, without bending it one way or the other. Need to be real careful there.
