"The man in the street
Draggin' his feet
Don't wanna hear the bad news
Imagine your face
There is his place
Standing inside his brown shoes
You do his nine to five
Drag yourself home half alive
And there on the screen
A man with a dream"

You do love some Steely. You know they took their name form  W. S. Burroughs - Naked Lunch. Steely Dan was was a metal dildo.

Met a man on the roadside crying, without a friend, there's no denying,
You're incomplete, they'll be no finding looking for what you knew.

So anytime somebody needs you, don't let them down, although it grieves you,
Some day you'll need someone like they do, looking for what you knew.

Mmm, I'm telling you now, The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now, It's very easy just...

Davey Johnstone is the definition of "Underrated"!

Was he ever under Elton? His bangs in the 70's were so . . . not manly.

Good to see he's keeping up the 70's tradition of wearing a Kimono.

These guys did it with style and a look that only Canadians can pull off.  I think Alex is smuggling a bullfrog in his pants.

I just listened to We're Only In It the other day driving to work. Its one of my early favorites.  Notice Frank is flashing the ''V"  "Peace Sign" backward. Isn't that the same thing in England as in the USA as our middle finger?

Oh girl, electric witch, you are limp, in societies ditch

you are visually fine, oh yes you are, mentally dying

Oh boy, just like a boat, you are sunk, but somehow you float

you are mentally weak, oh yes you are, but so much you speak

Oh God, high in your fields above earth, come and be real for us

you with your mind, oh yes you are, beautifully fine

•••• Hmmmm, I would have thought one of the guys from across the pond would have known the artist on this one ••••

cant help that.

I've just given up anybody figuring out the Family song from post #9 too.

ahh..

Yes he had his own thing with words. I used to like 'King Of The Rumbling Spire' when I was still at school.

The Family tune was 'Wheels' from 'A Song For Me'

He was a good poet, I attended one of his concerts in Nuremberg in1970, it was an exceptional show..

Wasn't John Wetton the bassist in Family for a hot minute?

I think this is an easy one:

Cold summer listening
Hot color melting the anger to stone
I still remember the dream there
I still remember the time you said goodbye
Did we really tell lies
Letting in the sunshine
Did we really count to one hundred

Its off Fragile.

Oh well, I was too busy listening to the guitar to hear the lyrics.

I'm one card short of a full deck
I'm not quite the shilling
One wave short of a shipwreck
I'm not my usual top billing
I'm coming down with a fever
I'm really out to sea
This kettle is boiling over
I think I'm a banana tree

I won't say. But I was after I stopped buying their albums.

All I will say is its not Yes, but Steve Howe is on one song on that album, but not the song from which you posted the lyrics.
