If this guitar was cheaper (and assuming is a real Gibson, which it looks like it is) it would not be a bad project to refinish it professionally. The odd peg-head shape is probably down to the wide-angle lens used to take the snaps. The original(?) screw holes for the pegs seem to be in an odd place, but then again I don't have a set of Grovers for comparison. $1,000, and he would accept less, seems OK. Why does it have chrome hardware? I know it was possible to order chrome rather than gold on a Custom but would many people have done that? How much of the thing is original would be worth knowing. Gibson found they could use plywood for the Dark Fire, as guitarists were too busy looking at all the faults to actually notice what they sounded like.
