LaBosco's 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2020 Looking to pick up a possible 90's Gibson Tal Farlow that's is for sale near me and just want to get a second opinion. I've never had one before but the fit and finish didn't seem as tight as I thought it would be.

jdgm 857 Report post Posted November 21, 2020 Looks nice from here. What are the issues? I don't think the perfectly-finished Gibson exists other than those Ren Ferguson $20k+ handmade ones....
LaBosco's 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2020 I'm 90% sure it's authentic but not having the paperwork with it makes me want to do my due diligence.
LaBosco's 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2020 My biggest concern is that you can "feel" the logo, all the bindings and inlays.
slimt 111 Report post Posted December 2, 2020 Ive owned quite a few 90s Tal Farlows. The one you show is one of those. Nothing wrong with it. Keep in mind there a larger eg of a Es175. Laminated wood.
kidblast 1,367 Report post Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) that is gorgeous. wouldn't worry about your findings, typical stuff for any gibson. they are not 100% mindful of the wee details. never have been never will be. it is what it is. about authenticity,,.. when in doubt, the easiest smoke test is to look at the truss rod. if it needs a 5/16 hex wrench to adjust tension, it's the real deal. if you need a metric allen wrench, it aint.
