That looks fantastic. Very nice mods. Did those P-90s drop right in? I'd like to do that with an IBG ES-335.

Yes they do, they are a direct HB replacement from Guitar Fetish.

I'm useless at posting links but richtonemusic.co.uk has the burgundy and tan Riviera in stock! £599.

I am literally about to buy a Gibson Les Paul Special TV yellow tomorrow, I've always wanted a riviera with mini hums and freq tailpeice.  I was hoping to just get the Gibson and deal with gas for the riviera in a few months when I thought they would appear. Dilemma!

They also have some interesting new colours in the casino, worn ebony and denim? I hadn't seen anything about these new colours.

My favorite is the GFS Mean 90's but they also come as Dream 90's which also sound really good but not quite as hot.

Thanks to your post, I read up on them earlier. The Mean 90s do seem better suited to me. Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. Happy Thanksgiving.

I got to play it a little today, so far everything is good. A few of my concerns before buying were laid to rest after actually seeing it.

No veneer, the body is 2 blocks of mahogany with the seam exactly down the middle.

No scarf joint, the neck is one piece except for the wings on the headstock like a Gibson.

My new 339 was monopolizing all of my time, until the 59 style Wilshire got here. I love this rounded C profile neck and with no access restriction all the way to fret 22.

bring back the Olympic, the one that looks like a double cut LP. I have a 63 epiphone Olympic, and I love it, and so do all the people who have played it.

The Olympics used a lot of different body designs like the Coronet/Wilshire/Crestwood bodies, including the Olympic below that used the Melody Maker DC body.

  • 2 weeks later...

I played the Wilshire and Crestwood a few weeks ago. I'm planning to buy a Wilshire when they get the red one in.

What is anyone using for the case? Epiphone's product page lists the SG case, but a Sweetwater rep recommended a generic rectangular Fender-style case. My local store thinks they have one of the 2009 reissue cases hidden somewhere, but if that doesn't turn up, I need something else.

Sweetwater may not have Epiphone SG cases. I ordered an aftermarket Musicians Gear SGS case that is on its way because I now have 4 guitars that fit in my 2 SG cases.

The official designated case for the Crestwood, Wilshire or the Coronet is an SG case. So I have an Epiphone Deluxe SG Case that it fits quite nicely in (with little extra head room), or a Gibson Deluxe SG Case that the body fits a little snugger..

So the Wilshire is a little shorter in overall length than an SG, but the neck length is the same.

You don't have a Telecaster, do you? I think these are roughly the size of a double-cutaway Telecaster, but I haven't been able to try a case.

Yes I do have a Tele that fits in my Epiphone SG case but not in my Gibson SG case which is too tight on the body..

So I guess this could also mean that the Wilshire, Coronet and Crestwood could fit in a Tele case, as long as the headstock is supported correctly.

I sent this new Ebony Coronet to a friend of mine, that is leaning against my old Ampeg with my friends Classic 50 driving it.

He said it sounds Killer through this rig..

Good friends and good guitars are what we all need this year. Nice.
