Gibson L 353

My son and I bought this guitar this past weekend. Obviously it REALLY OLD.

Inside thru one F-Hole it says, N-2. Thru the other F-Hole it says L 353. I've scoured the internet and can't seem to find anything like this.

Can someone please help? Have you ever seen on? What year are they from? How much are they worth?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Hi Shane,

To my eye, looking at your photos, that looks to be a very modified silvertone or Kay archtop made by the Kay company. the headstock is just a little wide at the top to be Gibson and a full laminate body that that faux tigerstriping wouldn't be something they would do in that era, definitely signature Kay though. The logo was always screenprinted quite uniformly- yours appears as though someone tried to free-hand the logo from the '30s and kind of jumbled it halfway through.

Cool guitar, love the hb size p90 in the neck, but not a Gibson.
