OK, here we go again. Most people have already seen this before, but here's my 2004 Studio Plus.

I love it without an ounce of Standard envy <img src='http://forum.gibson.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eusa_listen.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-"' />

My first LP, '60s Studio Tribute. Shipped it back to Gibson today. Fret board wasn't lined up with the neck properly. Hopefully they get it right this time. But I love the guitar. I am a drummer by trade. Took up guitar seriously a Lil while back. Thought it was time to grab a Gibson. I can't complain though. I stole this online for $550- to my door. (Brand new) with all the case candy. $39- to ship it back. But she screams thru a Fender '65 Twin Reverb and cleans up really nice. The hardest part, waiting and see if she gets repaired or I get a new one. I already miss her and its only been like 2 hours, Lol.

Had one of these in my hands. The pics don't do it justice. Beautiful guitar man!

It plays as well as the Standards I lost in the fire. If I had one wish, is that it would have come with open pickups. I could put Seymour Duncans in, and may yet, but with what this one cost...nearly up there with a new Standard...I really don't want to devalue it by making even temporary alterations. My new amp is yet to arrive, should be here Thursday, and if they go good together I'll likely forego the new pickups. I tried to get some really good pics, and did, but none showed what this guitar really looks like. Thanks for your comments :)

BTW, in the fire I also lost my Digitech GNX4 and Fender Pro tube amp. In fairness to the wife, I replaced both with a Line6 Spider MKIV 150w combo amp and foot controller. More power but I'm going to miss rolling my own with the GNX4, even though the Line6 has effects up the wazoo. It's not the same.

Well that sucks u lost ur stuff in a fire. But I definitely am digging ur flood swirl. I have a Line 6, its fun for messing around with. I grabbed a Fender '65 twin reverb and absolutely love it. Them 490r and 498t pups should sound sweet thru a class A tube amp. That 498t should scream. I have always taken my guitar with me when buying a new amp to plug in. Fairly new at the guitar end of it. I am a drummer but picked up the guitar in a seriously sense and am loving it! Hope ur new rig works out for u B)

I think it's going to be great :) Your nick..you have a Peavey 5150? I had one until around 2004 or 2005, the 5150 II Combo. That was one hot amp! I wish I still had it. Wish I still had the tubes! -Rod-

Does Gibson still make these? That Studio looks beautiful.

Yeah, it's a great looker and a great player too...better than I am. As far as I know Gibson's finished their run but they are still available. The last I saw, americanmusical.com still had at least one, possibly more. It's like $1579, shipping included. Mine came in flawless condition. -Rod-

Thanks, I'll have to take a look. Every Studio I've played rival the high end Gibson's in nearly every aspect, definitely a great value.

zzounds.com has em in stock too and are expecting the green swirl in Oct 15th. $1,549.00 to ur door. Im sure if you called them, they would knock %10 off too.

Get all my drumming stuff from them and no one comes close to their price matches. But u gotta call [biggrin]

I was wrong about the price at the other shop. It's the same as ZZ's but I sure didn't get 10% off. Ah well.

I once had the Wine Studio LP, btw. It's the one Gibson I just didn't care for. The gold was nice with the wine but the action, at least on mine, or for me, just didn't make it. It seemed clunky.

Nope, never owned a 5150. My guitar player has the 5150 III stack and he loves it. So much he sold his Marshall JVM. Im just a big Van Halen fan, hence the 5150. Though I was looking at the 5150 112. But Im happy with my Fender right now. I have a boat load of money in my drum kit, its just crazy how much I have spent on the guitars and amps and Im not really a guitar player, Lol. But im getting there. Should of took it up seriously years ago, but it seems I always had an excuse. Hell, Im even looking at banjo's now, LMAO!

I only shop zzounds for my drum stuff. I shop around, get the best price and just call, give em a part # and ask for %10 off. Works every time

for me. I also like the option of 8 payments when buying high end items. And they will take any competitors coupon, which always sweetens the deal.

Thanks for the link! While I knew the story, I hadn't seen that article nor the photos. I understand that the swirls in the paint booth are to stay there, though I'm not sure how they'll keep them from being covered over time. Cool photos :)

I could go broke doing that, 10% at a time :D

I recently got a 2011 Studio Limited (Classic 60's). It's one bad-bad blue beauty. Oh those shades of blue... Anyway, a few things: the natural grain is a bit more visible than in Gibby's pictures (see my pics below). Also, the dark blue gradient might be lightened by my camera because its flash has the intensity of 1000 suns (it really does).
