Pinch Posted December 8, 2020 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Thinking of plopping either set in a V. What's the 496/500 combo like in your experience? Sound a bit tinny on a lot of videos on Youtube. Looking for a warm, full, heavy rock/metal sound. Don't think I've ever played the 496/500 combo, but they seem to be the most famous "stock V" pickups. Thoughts? Not my favorite, I think you nailed it with the tinny comment. I was leaning towards 57 Classics but sold the guitar off. Maybe 490R/T like the SG Standard has is what you're after?
