AA1952
Ok, so I have a friend that may consider selling his '55 J185. He is asking $10,000 CAD. It was damaged badly years ago, but repaired well. It has the wear you'd expect from a vintage guitar that has been heavily played. Still playes well, great action and sound. I know the blond/natural finishes are the more rare ones on this model. Any thoughts on the asking price. I'm thinking about buying it from him. He's an honest guy but I thought I'd do my homework first. Thanks.
slimt
Too much. Its been damaged then repaired. Theres a burst on ebay for 15 or there abouts with no damage and that will retain its value
AA1952
Thank you very much I was thinking because there were only 270 made in the natural finish that it would have more value than a burst. I would imagine out of those 270 there can't be that many left out there. (648 bursts) Thanks again.
slimt
There are 200 more out there without repairs. Sometimes its worth spending a little more to be completely happy with a Nice guitar. To me anything restored or one with major repairs is not going to be the happy moment guitar.
