Retreat yoga

Recommended Posts

With an increasing number of people practicing the ancient art of yoga, the benefits of yoga are also becoming more widely understood. The consistent practice of yoga can decrease mental and physical stress, improve health, and reduce negative thoughts. People who have noticed the positive effects of yoga on their lives, often develop a longing to take their practice of yoga deeper and may then decide to go on a yoga retreat.

A yoga retreat is offered to those students who are serious about yoga by yoga teachers. The yoga teacher on a retreat yoga will often spend time guiding their students on how to advance in the practice of asana (yoga exercises), pranayama (yoga breathing techniques), deep relaxation and meditation. Sometimes also chanting and prayer, and yoga philosophy classes or study of yoga scriptures takes place on a yoga retreat.

Participants on a yoga retreat also have the chance to meet other yoga practitioners. The people we practice yoga with on a yoga retreat often become lifetime friends. On a yoga retreat, through sharing practices such as asana, pranayama, meditation and chanting, we meet new people in a relaxed, open and receptive spirit from which beautiful friendships can emerge.

According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or with Atman, the transcendent Self. The various yoga practices are a methodology for reaching that goal.Retreat yoga has become very popular as a form of physical exercise with a focus mainly on the practice of asanas (yoga postures). Many are also taking up the practices of pranayama (yoga breathing) and meditation.

If you ask for a "Happy Ending" in France, make sure it doesn't involve a baguette:
