PlayerSTill Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Im about to purchase one of these guitars, and I would like locking tuners that look like the ones on the 335 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ES35F00SCNH--gibson-es-335-figured-sixties-cherry Does anyone know if thats possible and what recommendations please? I love the Gotoh 510 locking tuners on my other guitars, though they have a different look, but open to suggestions It does not change the sound of guitar? Thanks to all! Quote
merciful-evans Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 It wont change the sound of the guitar. I cant advise on the locking tuners though. 1 Quote

Eracer_Team Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 locking tuners only make quick string changes.. won't help tuning issues. regular posts are fine for tuning as long as you correctly loop the string and few winds. 1 Quote

As long as you pay attention to if your tuners need a nut to secure them or you have the push-on bushings (new tuners should be the same to fit the already drilled hole the tuning machine goes through) you should be good. Per the picture you shared, those have the nut, not old style push-on bushings. These vintage tuners (i.e. Klusons) I call them should match up with the screw holes the originals left behind. That’s the idea because if you don’t get a drop-in replacement, forget it... But should be like replacing Grovers - easy to upgrade to locking tuners. Edited December 31, 2020 by NighthawkChris Quote
badbluesplayer Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Yes. Like Chris said^^^, just use new tuners that are a drop-in replacement for the old ones. Most locking tuners are compatible with a particular model of non-locking tuners. Quote
