Xotic Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Hey everyone - currently looking at purchasing a brand new 1959, but had a couple questions I was hoping to get answered before I pull the trigger: 1. Do all the models made after the 60th anniversary variant (2020 and beyond) have the same specs? If not, what has changed? Is it worth specifically seeking out a mint 60th instead? 2. Are there specific times in the year Gibson Custom Shop is known to announce the changes to their models? I ask because now being in 2021, I’d rather wait to see if anything is changed for the year if it’s something that could happen in the near future. Appreciate any insight! Quote
Dub-T-123 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 From what I understand the current model has all the same features as the 60th anniversary. One thing to be aware of is that the specs can change depending on the dealer you buy from. For example I got mine from Wildwood and they select the woods, specify a slightly lower output version of the custom bucker and aged plastics etc. You might notice that some sellers have slightly different prices on what appears to be the same model. I think this is because of the different options that the dealer selects from the factory In the past Gibson always announced new models before the new year. Seemingly quite a few months before the new year. I haven’t seen anything about them changing the historic reissues this year so it should be more or less a continuation of the 60th anniversary specs be sure to post pics and a review if you pull the trigger. Also I do highly recommend both the R9 and Wildwood guitars for what it’s worth Quote

I will take a look around and see which model and specs I decide to go with! Will also make sure to check out wildwood as I’ve heard great things. Cheers! Quote
