PrairieSchooner Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 (edited) I searched for these on the site but didn't find anything. Just wondering anyone has any experience? I'm not in the market for anything myself, but I've seen their ads and looked at their website; they look quite nice and their price is certainly attractive. Ian Tyson supposedly plays them, not that he's known for his guitar playing. Edited January 11, 2021 by PrairieSchooner Quote
zombywoof Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 (edited) Never heard of them. But their spiel and prices are similar to Short Mountain Guitars which they advertise as having been played by Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, John Fogerty, and others. Edited January 11, 2021 by zombywoof Quote
Sgt. Pepper Posted January 11, 2021 Posted January 11, 2021 (edited) Here is the first statement in their website. All MacKenzie & Marr guitars are crafted from solid premium woods. Because we offer our instruments directly to musicians - we have no distributors or dealers - we can afford to use nothing but the best materials in building our guitars. We guarantee you'll love your MacKenzie & Marr guitar or we'll take it back...no questions asked. They are made in China. Excuse me Mac and Marr, but Pete Townhend came over to the house for a little jam session, and he had a 70's flashback, and thought it was the end of Won't Get Fooled Again, and he smashed my guitar to bits. I'm returning it, No Questions Asked. Edited January 11, 2021 by Sgt. Pepper Quote

I own the following Martin's: D-41, D-35, 000-28, D-18, J12-16GT and a D-15M, so not to bad. Edited January 13, 2021 by Sgt. Pepper Quote
Twang Gang Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) They look pretty nice on the website, and where they are made doesn't really bother me, but I am a pretty firm believer that you get what you pay for, and those prices seem a little too low to be a high quality product. Or maybe I'm just brainwashed from years of over paying for Gibson, Taylor, Martin, Collings etc. I guess the proof would be in playing one to really see what it's like, but that doesn't seem to be an option since they only sell direct and you can't go somewhere and try one out. THEY CALL MESiR Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 I purchased the Riverboat Dread. Great workmanship and quality. Huge sustain. Not as much punch as I would expect from an Adirondack top, but I assume it will get louder as it seasons. No regrets. Quote

Low-grade wood? Bad workmanship? Design? Lousy sound? And what personal experience do you have with the guitars? 1 Quote
