Greenhorn
Firstly is this a genuine Gibson Guitar ? There is no serial number only a 'Made in USA' stamp, but I have attached some pictures Would like to know what model and if possible the year, it looks like a Gibson J-45 or LG-1. j45nick
Most likely LG-2, my guess would be around 1950. Stick your finger inside the soundhole and feel under the top, towards the bridge. If the first brace you feel, about an inch back from the soundhole, runs straight across the guitar, it is an LG-1. If instead you feel two braces intersecting each other more or less at right angles to form part of an X at that point on centerline about an inch below the soundhole, it is an LG-2. You may want to remove the pickup and look more carefully inside. The factory order would be ink-stamped on the neck block, visible inside by looking towards the heel of the neck. The model number would be stamped on that lighter centerline backstrip. These are not always there in this period. It could be as early as 1948. It is not a J-45. It is either an LG-1 or and LG-2. The made in USA on the back of the headstock in this era says it was an export model, often to Canada or South Africa, but maybe elsewhere. The bridge pins holding the strings in place are not set properly, and look a bit messed up. This can damage the bridgeplate underneath the bridge. It appears to be the real thing.
