trossit@frontie Posted February 12, 2021 Share Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Hi Forum, I would like to acquire a used Epiphone Les Paul Special and was interested in what is the best one to look for. These guitars have been around for decades made in many different countries and maybe even with slightly different hardware (pickups, tuners, and wood type). What model years and manufactures should I be looking for to find the best LP Special or Special II? I know these guitars have been made in Korea, China, and Indonesia. I have also noticed some have "Gibson" marked truss-rod covers. Is this a good sign? The wood types for the necks and bodies have changed throughout the years. The pic shown below is a Made in Korea 2005 model selling for $135. I want to go look at it once the weather permits.
