Well, I've just added something to his ebay posting which has reduced my chances of getting a Christmas card from the seller.

Assuming ebay doesn't remove my 'Question for seller' that is......

In some ways I think anyone who can't tell that's a piece of crap deserves all they get. But, then again, perhaps not.

I am with pippy.

People should do their homework before buying anything (not only expensive stuff). And I am talking about people willing to pay the fair price. If we are talking about people looking for a ZW or a R9 for less than 1000 then they deserve to get that POS guitar they will get. And they deserve to never in their lives be alowed to come close to an original gibson.

OMG that is really disgraceful. .... and the winning bid is at just under 2000 euro.

what if some poor old man is blowing his life savings to buy his grand son what he thinks will be an amazing present.

that seller should be shot.

i dont know how to quite put my finger on it but it just doesnt look right and he/she describes it saying how he/she sent it to a famous musician to test it and how it was `awesome` and `tested` it against other models... what a laugh

he/she should be shot' date=' i agree[/quote']He didn't say "famous", he said, professional, but still, the so-called "professional" should have been able to tell, that the guitar was a fake.

Well, I've just looked again and my warning has been deleted.

By whom I don't know.

I've tried to report it to ebay and I've posted another warning on the listing.

As Billy Connoly once said; "Hangin's too good for some people - It's a good kick up the Arse they need!"

I've just had a pm from the seller which simply had three words ; "It's a Gibson".

My reply to him contained a damn sight more than that and I've told him that I, personally, will report him to the police if he doesn't remove or amend his listing.

However; the phrase 'pissing in the river' springs to mind.

Can't any of you guys just outbid the current highest bidder and then when it's done tell ebay the item was fake and so you wouldnt pay for it?

It will go against your eBay rating, and the seller will just re-list it.

Thats a little harsh, bro. I wanted a les paul since I was 10, but have only played a few before buying my first one. I had no idea that there were fakes until I started posting here. I would hate to see it go to a guy that has been saving his pennies for years to buy his first Gibson.

I think it depends on the situation. There have been guys who have joined the forum after having purchased a fake and I felt very sorry for them, as they had no clue as to what was going on. They quickly understood and often times (like Dacookster) took action to get their money back. On the other hand there have been guys who have joined the forum after having bought a fake who put forth an attitude that we are all idiots for having spent so much on our LP's when then in fact found one for $300...and these are also the ones who argue that we are all wrong and have no clue what we are talking about. I don't feel sorry for scenario #2.
