He was Just Doing His Job, But......

...I think the man was doing his job... if the people involved didn't stop and told him what was happening then how could he know they weren't getting away from a bank robbery or something?

Ok... ok... he detained them for 13 minutes at the hospital's doorstep... that's just stupid in light of what they told him was happening... if he wasn't sure he coul take their word for it, he could have escorted them inside and see for himself...

Yes, he could have just done that.

More often people say anything just to get off for anything.

But when you tell the guy that your mom is dying and you are in front

of the hospital at the wee our of the day.....DUH!!!!!!

I agree with Thunder...

I would be interested to hear the Officer's account of what happened. Everyone's always keen to jump on the side of the press when in reality the situation and circumstances can be very different... In this situation no one knows for sure and why, because we were not there... I have been on the recieving end of some nasty 5hit and when all said and done I was the one made to look bad...

People should remember that Police Officers are human beings and not robots.. There is bad in every organisation, class group etc etc.. and Police Officers are no exception..

My first thought was this guy's a racist cop.

Then I thought he's one of those guys where everything is black and white (no punn intended) and there are no gray areas. I know several police officers and they say there a few on every force. Fortunately, in cases like this, we find out about them and his superiors are having to appologize. This guy clearly needs to be let go for his lack of behavioral flexibility, a valuable characteristic when you're supposed to "Protect and to Serve".

Your first though was racist cop... Why? Coz the cop's white and the subject's black ? oh and he's breaking the law! (im sure his reason was valid) It doesnt even mention racism until halfway through the report..

Would you have thought the same of the cop was black and the subject white??

Yup,

racist cop.

Did you even listen to his tone and voice inflections while barking out orders. He was white, they were black. But that's just a small part of it. He's a control freak. Had they stopped and explained it to him, he would have them all out of the car, on the curb, while he checks every identification just because they ran a red light. They could have explained it to him and he would not have even given them a police escort to the hospital because for him it's running a red light at 2:00 in the morning. It's about him being in control.

Remeber: "To Protect and to Serve" he lacks the capacity to serve the citizens who pay his salary because he is a control freak. It's all about doing what he says. Not serving the betterment of society.
