Have you played them both? If so, any differences you can call out?

Also, are these two guitars the same size?

Thanks all!

As we know they should be similar - including plus/minus torrefaction and adjustable saddles - (in some cases there might be back-brace differences).                                                                                                                      That said some would claim the 2 p-guard thicknesses (B fat - CW thin) play a role. Not sure. I believe the various natures of the individual creations mean more.

thanks guys, really thinking about getting one but I don't want to be the same as my hbird... a little difference would be nice 🙂

No holy truth to be found in the answers above - other than the way forward is to sense the differences yourself.                       It'll be fun.

Ive always felt that while there is A LOT of similaries between the two models,  the key difference is that the CW seems to have a much dryer tone, while the Bird has that honey nectar, more saturated tone. Could be because of the pickguard thickness, who knows.

You were among the first here who launched the thickness-of-p-guards-plays-in-theory. I always followed you down that path, , , and btw. should kind of know.

That Bird from which I removed the guard 5 years ago sang significantly different without it. Okay, we are in the finer nuances, but it became freer, like more open. I kept the glue on so the guard could go off and on again and again and again over several days. The pattern was clear with all kinds of ears. And pretty logical actually. If you add a big thick plastic plate to a vibrating top something will happen - and if you choose one half as thick something else will. .

The more I look around for information on this guitar, video clips and reviews, the more I get excited.

I find interesting the value of the guitar (in $$). The price of this guitar is a few hundreds more than the HB original, and yet the upgrades to me are worth much more - I.e baked top, advanced scallop, hide glue, and the electronics. The electronic itself would bring the price close between the two.

Also, when comparing the the HB 1960 reissue the main difference is on the hand rubbing and the price jumps considerably.

I am still waiting to get mine, but if it aligns with the specs on paper abs what I see online I believe this is probably one of the best values on Gibson acoustics.

I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts on the similarities and differences. 😎

An early congrats on your pending NGD!

Thank you. It should be here by end of week. Also, wife is traveling with daughter for the weekend so I have it all for myself without any honeydo... 🤗
