merciful-evans Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 This song is from one of those Kevin Ayres albums that escaped me, 'Falling Up'. It looks to be unavailable now except as used. Someone on Amazon is offering one at more than £50. I'm a fan, but I'll keep on looking. Anyway its a good song from a unique artist. Quote

Wasn't he in Soft Machine? Quote
merciful-evans Posted April 3, 2021 Author Posted April 3, 2021 Yes he was in the original Soft Machine. There was a brief version of 'We Did It Again' on the debut album. He was a excellent bassist. He had his own band 'Kevin Ayres & the Whole World' that included Lol Coxhill and Mike Oldfield. Quote

And David Bedford too - I saw them play once at Guildford Civic. He (Ayers) was very pissed. Edited April 3, 2021 by jdgm Quote

jdgm Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 I had the "Shooting At The Moon" LP on Harvest at the time. And later "The Confessions of Dr. Dream and Other Stories" which had a fantastic line-up of musicians. Quite a guy. Quote

merciful-evans Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 I have mostly early albums. About 5 or so. He featured on live BBC radio broadcasts about 69-71. I knew him from Soft Machine, but those radio shows renewed the interest. John Peel as I recall also played a KA song each week. Quote
