Korgis
Just bought a new 2020 Les Paul classic (my first LP) and noticed this gap. Is this typical or is the pickguard warped?
NighthawkChris
@Korgis nothing to worry about there. It's not moving around when you play, no? As long as it is in the same spot and not bothering you, keep it on the way it is. That's the way LPs are.
Pinch
Worst case scenario, you buy a new pickguard for cheap. IIRCC there's USUALLY no gap, but I also know Gibson plastic parts can be a bit wonky. If it doesn't bother you when playing, you can just leave it be. You're always going to be able to buy LP replacement pickguards, until the end of time. So no sweat. But I know how it is. New Guitar Worry. It's taxing, to put it mildly.
Twang Gang
Nothing wrong with that. They typically are pretty flush with the top up near the neck pickup and then gradually move away from the body as they go down to the bridge pickup. kidblast
yea.. that's nothing I'd be worried about Korgis. it's possible they located that L bracket just a bit higher than most.
Eracer_Team
Just don't look under the screw/nut holding the pickguard on , you'll probably see a dent in the finish.

NighthawkChris
FWIW, I put a thin felt tab on the back of the pickguard arm screw. It’s helped me out thus far... simple fix here for not scratching the finish. Edited April 14, 2021 by NighthawkChris
