2012 Gibson Hummingbird vs 2006 Gibson ES-335 (dot plain gloss) Values

I'm talking to a guy about trading my 2006 Gibson ES-335 (Dot, plain top, gloss) for a 2012 Hummingbird.  Does anybody have any opinions on the comparative value of these two guitars? Both are like new with cases and certificates. The owner of the Hummingbird believes there is a $400 difference in his favor, which could be true, I'm just looking to confirm. I thought their MSRPs were around the same. Thanks for any help with this!

The Bird is newer and right now go for 3800. A new 335 goes for 3000.

So going back in the time machine a '12 Bird might have been 3000 - 3200 maybe, I'm guessing, and the '06 335 back then maybe 2000 - 2200 or so, once again a guess.

So you are probably going to have to give him some cash, but $400 and you get what you want and he gets what he wants sounds like a win for you.

Thanks for that information. I think it's a fair deal from what I've been able to find out. Is there any added value due to the ES-335 being made at the old Memphis plant? I talked to the guy who set up my guitar at the Memphis plant and he figured that the Memphis made 335s will appreciate more and that Hummingbirds are more common.

Not sure. They are the best electrics Gibson ever made.

He's talking about the future,  whereas you are considering trading now.
