I was looking at some of the new 1960s Unburst  Les Pauls on zZounds and some of them have serial numbers that start with "23" -- is that right??  Did Biff Tannen bring these Les Pauls back from the future?

I looked at one and the first 5 numbers are 23230"

So it would be a guitar make in 2020 on the 323rd day of the year. So November 19th. How is that the future. Do you know how Gibsons serial number system works?

The first and fifth numbers are the year and the middle 3 are the Julien date.

From the Gibson website.....

Gibson USA 2014 to present – These serial numbers cannot be dated to a specific day of the year.
The new model year typically launches in the fall as the current model year winds down. It is not uncommon for a new model year model to be produced during the previous model year (example – a 2015 model may have been built in late 2014).

The pattern is as follows:
YYRRRRRRR
YY is the model year
RRRRRRR is the number in product for the model year (starts at 0000001)

Then Gibson changed their serial number scheme again. Happens about every 5 minuets.

You were talking about a 1960 reissue right? That’s not Gibson USA

Then they indeed got the guitar from the future and brought it back. You better snatch it up, as it may be a collectors item.

They still building 59 LPs in the 23rd century? Of course they are. Silly question. What else is there to do.

You know it.  Gibson will be around forever.  the 2259's are widely coveted in the late 23 century as vintage models.
