It was from an online store and when it arrived it had some slight blemishes around where the two colors meet. I have attached pictures of it. Things that bug you in the beginning will often bug you more as time goes on, especially if you spent big $$$ on it (to your budget) and intend for it to be your main guitar. Like Jalex said it could be bear claw, or some other sort of irregularity in the grain that affects how the finish reflects light. Google some images of bear claw, bear claw + Gibson sunburst guitar, etc. Your guitar is unique, and should that Hummingbird disappear on you, it would be easier to spot it online should someone try to resell it. It's more likely that people new to nitro-finished guitars with pointy pickguards, like those that are on the H-bird, would get flustered when the pickguard starts to lift a little at the "points". Any chance you could share a pic of the guitar that is less zoomed in? If you upload to imgur.com using "Direct Link", it could be imbedded here without running up against the forum's meager image data allowance. Enjoy your new Hummingbird. You know, like when you buy a leather coat and it comes with a label that states: "Please note that leather is a natural product and may contain marks, blemishes, scars or other imperfections; this is the nature of leather and I believe this adds to the character of a leather item. It’s solid wood, not some perfectly layered and contoured, man-made material. If you like it, keep it! If not, send it back and try another. I hope you eat the guitar you need. They can be deleted by goin' to the right upper dots. 🙂 Apart from that you obviously have a nice ordinary Bird and it's easy to see why the marks may bother your inner balance. I would have probs if the price wasn't lowered - in case I wanted to pass it further one day, , , and perhaps for aesthetic reasons too.
