Oswald
I currently have Martin Retro Lights on my 2015 Gibson J-45 Standard, I put these on 21 December 2020, nine months old and I enjoy their tone, no desire for change. They still keep good tuning as well.
Larsongs
I use Martin Retro Monels & the best thing about them is that they sound great Acoustic.. And they sound great Electric.. Every other String I’ve tried does one or the other well.. But, not both…
rbpicker
They are my string of choice on my J45. Just right for the sound I’m after. rb
BoSoxBiker
I've used other brands of nickel to tame some brighter guitars. Sunbeams kind of took over that niche for me, and they sounded much better. I just found out this past week that they work quite well on a baked-top Dove. I put a set of 80/20 Martin Silk(what they used to call Marquis) the same day I put the Sunbeams on the Dove. They are still settling in on day-4. Heard some bottom end pop through under normal playing last night. I like them on other guitars, but this one was a no-go so far. We were talking about break-in periods on a different thread. This guitar is still very much in it's early break-in period. Things might be quite different in a year or two.
