Is the Dark Fire (and the Robot in general) going to be another dabble into gimmickry or is it going to be embraced as the standard for the future? Only time will tell, but there have been other dabbles with technology and guitars that have never taken off. Remember the huge flow of intense feeling triggered by the first time you heard Led Zep / Dylan / Police / Public Enemy / Eminem / MrBig / U2 / Arcade Fire / Linkin Park ' date=' whatever worked for you then, same with the first time you played or heard a LesPaul and a Tube amp. All that generated an aggregation of encoded synapses & neurons. Then it is bi-directionnal, the next time you trigger that group of cells you feel good again. Thus we as human beings are tempted to re-use our already aggregated feel good centers. So once adult, it gets real hard to wander into uncharted territories, because it is plain easier to feel good just re-visiting charted ones. Now with Dark Fire, the challenge is to target a new technology at grown ups with lots of spare cash, whereas teenagers would be a lot more receptive to new stuff. While obviously re-runs of 50s LesPaul clearly hit the sweet spots in lawyers, traders and other wealthy adults. ... Luckily, average men reach adulthood when they get around 50 or 60, if ever! So it leaves some time for us experimenting with new gadgets :-) And it makes it all that harder for our ladies to understand why, since they are all mature and wise since their early 20s :-) As always with me, this is half a joke and half scientific!
