Checkings on my Brand New 50s Goldtop

I'd have to check around some in my books but it looks like it was Stan Rendell who shut down production for a bit until Gibson got some kilns up and running.  I thought it was Ted McCarty.

The checking was caused by painting over wood with the moisture content too high.

I've been lucky, I've had Gibsons since 1974 and only that one bit of checking on a Lucille which I caused.

remember this guitar came new from the dealer checked and it wasn't a Murphy guitar

wasn't like he was in Flint Michigan in December for a gig and pulled it out of his trunk.

oddly enough, the person who created the thread has left the building some time ago.  so no idea how this situation ended.
