SteveFord Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I'd have to check around some in my books but it looks like it was Stan Rendell who shut down production for a bit until Gibson got some kilns up and running. I thought it was Ted McCarty. The checking was caused by painting over wood with the moisture content too high. I've been lucky, I've had Gibsons since 1974 and only that one bit of checking on a Lucille which I caused. Quote
Eracer_Team Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 remember this guitar came new from the dealer checked and it wasn't a Murphy guitar wasn't like he was in Flint Michigan in December for a gig and pulled it out of his trunk. Quote

Demetrio Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 *UPDATE* Checkings don’t want to stop apparently. It looks weird tbh as the guitar since November is sitting in its case and my house is constantly between 18 and 20C.. well I guess I have a relic for free 😂 Quote
merciful-evans Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 All this could easily end if nitro was discontinued. Ultimately its us that decide this, and it seems that collectively, we want 'traditional'. Quote
