jimmystrings
hi all, just got my J45 in the mail yesterday and when I opened it up I found this in the body, loose and rattling around. I'm assuming it's part of the pickup system maybe and I should start a return on it, but just wanted to confirm it wasn't packing material or something else. Any ideas? thanks! Sgt. Pepper
I've never seen a packing peanut that looks like that. Yeah it might be part of your electronics, especially since it was found in the body.
Leonard McCoy
It looks like the cable tie (on self-adhesive tape) to tie the pickup cable to the sides so that it doesn't dangle around freely. Just reinstall it. Edited November 6, 2021 by Leonard McCoy
duluthdan
Yep - its a cable clip that lost its adhesive grip. If it has lost its stickiness you can get another for pennies - it is just used to control/contain the wires from the pick up.
jimmystrings
thanks all! sounds like it's not an issue with any of the functional components then. I plugged it in and the pick up works so looks like I'll stick with it and see about re-attaching it

jimmystrings
anyone have any photos or ideas where that piece should stick back into?
kidblast
I am not sure it's worth spending too much energy on, but you'd want to look inside with a flashlight and maybe a mirror? with a factory install, my hunch is those should be set in some pattern, like so many inches from the other. find if there's a spot where an obvious gap is where one clip should be but aint..
