Is this a legit gibson?

guitarquestions

Recommended Posts

I'm brand new to this group, and I apologize if I'm not using the forum properly (please feel free to correct me!:)

Looking to get my first gibson and according to my research there are a lot of fakes out there.

The person selling it seems pretty trustworthy and reasonable, but he thought this was a "studio" and from what I can tell all the studios have that written on the plastic piece, while this one is blank, so I don't even know what model it is.

Can one of you experts help me decipher what model this is, and if this one is legit? Hugely appreciated!

As far as I can see from the 2 pics, this looks like a LP Studio.

It is unlikely to be a fake as there isn't enough money to be made by faking one.

I would not be surprised if the truss rod cover (the "plastic piece") has simply been reversed and says "Studio" on the other side, along with having a white border.

(EDIT) But no - see Rabs post below!

Best wishes.

Rabs and JDGM I'm sorry I'm a little confused - Do you both agree that this guitar is LEGIT?

Yes.  Can't speak for Rabs but his link shows it

I agree with him!

It's legit.
It's real.

I used to own one.
Great guitar.

It's very similar in appearance and features to the 2017 Les Paul Studio T Faded Brown
that Rabs described earlier.

Minus the mysterious 'T', I guess.

It's real.
It's legit.
😉
