guitarquestions
I'm brand new to this group, and I apologize if I'm not using the forum properly (please feel free to correct me!:) Looking to get my first gibson and according to my research there are a lot of fakes out there. The person selling it seems pretty trustworthy and reasonable, but he thought this was a "studio" and from what I can tell all the studios have that written on the plastic piece, while this one is blank, so I don't even know what model it is. Can one of you experts help me decipher what model this is, and if this one is legit? Hugely appreciated!
brad1
My 2016 LP studio has “studio” written on the TRC. It also has block inlays on the fretboard.
jdgm
As far as I can see from the 2 pics, this looks like a LP Studio. It is unlikely to be a fake as there isn't enough money to be made by faking one. I would not be surprised if the truss rod cover (the "plastic piece") has simply been reversed and says "Studio" on the other side, along with having a white border. (EDIT) But no - see Rabs post below! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_Les_Paul_Studio Best wishes. sparquelito
It's legit. It's real. 2018 Gibson Les Paul Faded in Worn Bourbon finish http://legacy.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2018/USA/Les-Paul-Faded-2018.aspx I used to own one. Great guitar. It's very similar in appearance and features to the 2017 Les Paul Studio T Faded Brown that Rabs described earlier. Minus the mysterious 'T', I guess. It's real. It's legit. 😉
Rabs
Yeah that could be right... It could also be a 2017 made in 2018.... They dont make it easy do they... Edited November 24, 2021 by Rabs
guitarquestions
Thank you Sparquelito and Rabs and JDGM. I'm SUPER excited to go ahead and buy it. Thanks for taking the time. Gnite!
jdgm
It has what looks like the soft case rather than the gigbag so more likely 2018...? Good luck, should be well worth it.
sparquelito
I must say; That is the best soft case I have ever known. I loved it. When I sold the guitar, I really wanted to keep the soft case, but decorum and my up-bringing dictated that I let it go. 😑
