I am seriously considering getting one in ebony.

Who has one, who's played one, what's the opinions?

I've seen the reviews on YouTube etc but haven't really seen these mentioned here.

I own a new Epiphone USA Casino & it’s hands down a fabulous Instrument.. Pricey but worth it IMO.

I also own a Peerless Ltd edition Casino with Bigsby…

In addition I own an Epiphone Ltd Edition Reissue 1961 50th Anniversary Casino with Tremotone & an IBJL Revolution Casino in Natural finish… Both Guitars are equipped with Gibson USA P90’s, Parts, Switchcraft Switches & Jack. They’re excellent Casinos, are more reasonably priced Used & would better choices IMO. Both are out of Production & not available new..  Although Prices have been increasing as they’re quite good Guitars & are very competitive to the higher priced Elites, Elitists & Ltd Production 65 Lennon’s.

The Worn series is their entry level model & has some slightly different features… I’m not a fan of Asian P90’s or medium Jumbo Frets, but different Strokes… The YouTube’s I watched don’t sound very impressive.. But it could be the Players & the Amps they’re using…

Here is a Link to the 2 Lower Priced Casinos with their Specs…

To be honest I'm waiting for a USA Sheraton, if that ever happens.

This worn series just keeps me interested enough to keep looking.

The pickups would possibly go anyway in favour of something with black covers, even though personally I've not had any problems with epiphone pickups. These also come with CTS pots, so no issues  there.

The andertons review was quite interesting, but again amps, player etc.

The specs are very similar to the standard production casino, some may argue better.

It definitely isn't a bolt on neck as stated in the link you provided.

It doesn’t look like a Bolt on Neck but I don’t see anything on Epiphones website saying it is or isn’t? Given the different Indian Laurel & Medium Jumbo Frets who knows what else is different about the Neck? Epiphone doesn’t give much detail re; the Build & or the Materials used in this Guitar…

I didn’t write the Specs on my Link….

One thing for sure is if you’re expecting it to be the Guitar played by all those mentioned in Epiphones Hype, it isn’t.

Good luck….

For what it's worth I know, you know about casinos. Your the casino guy on here, I appreciate your input

I kind of know what I'm expecting from this, if i get one.

I simply hope it to be a decent basic guitar, the fretboard material etc don't particularly concern me and as far as I'm aware the standard casino comes with pau ferro now anyway. I'm particularly drawn to the finish and colour.

The neck is 100% set. https://www.peachguitars.com/epiphone-casino-worn-worn-ebony.htm?opt=28010&gclid=CjwKCAiAwKyNBhBfEiwA_mrUMsk0T6Qi9uRZKY0621E70BHzAWcyyji_6C6JoZr_K26o8lUg1t2W7hoCW4sQAvD_BwE

Hopefully you can see the pictures on there, if not it does say set neck under the joint header on the epiphone product page.

My goal with this thread is to gauge the quality of these coming from the factory, the last new epiphone I bought was in 2012. I believe the quality is good at the factory at the moment but I'm just asking for people's experiences.

I have yet to see a poorly built Casino.. Regardless if it is Japanese, Korean, Chinese or USA…. Epiphone does a great job!

No doubt the Worn will be no different.. It will probably be a good Guitar out of the box.. Maybe a new Set of Strings & a Truss Rod adjustment.. You can always mod the Pickups & whatever else to your Specs…

The Black would be Cool!

They did the MIUSA john lee hooker sheratons back in the 90s. it's what became the union jack guitar played by noel gallagher at maine road

appreciate this rundown - there are a bunch of thoughts here, but any quick thoughts between IBJL and the 61?  I've eyed an IBJL for a few years but their prices have been kind of all over the place. people and certain listing websites confuse them with the 1965 casino and so the pricing is way off as folks see what are labeled the same guitar selling between $800-2500. would love a  1965 but more likely to snag an IBJL on a good day if i can get it under $1000

I know.

I mean, if they give the sheraton the same recognition they have given the casino this past year. I think there would be a huge market for a USA sheraton with original specs, even a Chinese version. Surely gibson know that.

Anyway that's a topic for a separate thread.

I dont know, the casino will always and forever have its fans just because of the fabs, and a miusa casino wasn't realllyyyy competing with a gibson product.

given the popularity of the MIUSA stuff i bet they're kicking themselves for not doing a limited run with the '62 reissue sheratons, those looked so great but every one i played (3-5 on the wall at GC) sounded just ok and felt like it was dipped in a drum of poly. which brings us back to this worn casino which hopefully has that matte, thin finish and at least has the feel of nitro.

The thing with the USA casino is that they weren't making 330 at the time were they? That would have been an interesting comparison.

I think the sheraton is different enough that a lot of people would get one while they could over a 335. I know I would.

I have one of the union jack sheraton and it's settled and aged nicely now played in but still I would describe it as gloomy. I also played a few of the 62 and the neck put me off, too thin.

Years ago I  randomly tried one of the worn dot studios and was amazed by it for the money, I ended up buying a gloss cherry one weeks later which is still phenomenon for a £200 guitar at the time. That's my thinking with these casinos especially as you say the thin worn finish.

That's one thing I can guarantee with 100% certainly though, if I ever do end up with one of these casinos. Not a single beatles song will be played on it. Maybe a few imitations by bands a few miles down the road, but no scousers!

The Ltd Edition 1965 Casino’s aren’t to be confused with IBJL Casinos.. The 1965’s are Terada built Custom Shop level Guitars… Great!

The IBJL’s, Inspired by John Lennon, Casino’s are MIC.. That said, they are extremely well built. Excellent QC & attention paid to fit,  finish & detail.. They have USA Gibson P90’s & sound outstanding. High quality Switchcraft Jacks & Switches were used. And other upgrades… (I own the Revolution model).

The 50th Anniversary 1961 Casino’s were Ltd Edition Guitars. Consisting of a total of 1961 Guitars. Some included the Tremotone vibratos. (Which is the one I own.) They are also MIC & IMO a better quality build than the IBJL’s. Also, has Gibson USA P90’s, Switchcraft & other upgrades.. A bit better feeling, looking & sounding IMO.

Both come very close to Elites & Elitists.. Not exact.. But close…

The 50th Anniv. & IBJL Casino’s are excellent choices.. The 50th Anniv. would be my first choice because of the slightly better build quality & being a low number Ltd. Edition. The IBJL my 2 choice because it also is an outstanding Guitar. Price wise both models are exceptional  values….
