JC B
I have a 62 Melody Maker that has the wrong knobs and is missing it's truss rod cover. What are the correct replacement parts and where can I find them? I don't care if the replacements I get are real vintage parts, I just want the guitar tom look correct. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
pohatu771
You can get an original late 50s/early 60s single-ply truss rod cover for about $60. There is one on Reverb for that price right now, and a couple for a bit more. For the difference between a modern recreation or real vintage example, I'd pay the extra (and try to find one with screws included). Knobs are tougher. A set of four vintage reflector knobs are about $300. Less than half that for a set of 2 (and there are a couple listings for $100). That's a much bigger difference compared to original when you can get modern knobs for $10... but I'd probably do it, especially if it only needs two.
