Les Paul Tribute vs Special TV Yellow

I’m kind of new to this part of the forum… so hi!

On Thursday I am going with my oldest son (28) to both check out some guitars at a great shop near us. He may want to pick up a bass, and I may want a short scale simple alternative to my Tele-esque guitar.

they have both a walnut and cherry satin tribute in stock, with Intonated wrap around. They also have a used SG with P90s in a red gloss finish. And they have a LP special spin TV Yellow.

these are all 1500ish or less..,

what do you all like and why? I tend to like satin finishes by the way.

Well the tribute sounds most appealing to me. Its mostly aesthetics though. The special is probably every bit as good, so it come down to details and condition.

I dont have an SG, but would prefer one with HBs I think.

Enjoy trying them out. I know I would always go with the the sound over looks at the final evaluation.
