bugsbunny
I am looking at a few SG and LP Custom and the fretboard looks pretty nice. Does anyone know if Gibson uses African ebony or Indian ebony or Macassar ebony for their Custom Shop guitar fretboard? Thanks

Thanks All of the super expensive Murphy aged ones with ebony fretboads just say Solid Ebony, so I get it is from the country of Solid. Seriously I have no clue, call Gibson and ask. merciful-evans
Out of curiousity, are you asking because of concern for ebony stocks/sustainability (no not that sort of sustain) or because you have a preference for colour/species? Alfa
I know that Gibson use Katalox Ebony, very dark wood from south america.
