jimmiJAMM
How much does a Les Paul weigh?
LPguitarman
Depends on if it is weight relieved, or chambered, or solid. Anywhere from 8-12 lbs. would be my guess.
Tim Plains
They can also be lighter and heavier than that. My old BFG was around 7 lbs. I'm sure a couple 15 pounders have come out of Gibson over the years.
jimmiJAMM
Thanks, guys! Appreciate your help. My ZWLP weighs 8.5 lbs. and feels like lead compared to my SGs. Does it cost much to have it chambered?
AXE®
Does it cost much to have it chambered? Simple question turns difficult. Do you want to have the one you already have chambered? If so the cap and neck will be removed the body CNCd and a total refinish.and reassemble. Not to mention shipping... Probably as much as you payed for the guitar originally. Tim Plains
Don't listen to AXE. Chambering a guitar is a simple procedure that any guitar tech can do for a few hundred dollars. Everybody's doing it nowadays... My ZWLP weighs 8.5 lbs. and feels like lead compared to my SGs. Epiphone? A Gibson ZW Custom should weigh 10 lbs or more. Sorry to get off the subject, but I always wondered if necks could be removed from set neck guitars. I have seen guitars with head stock repairs and wondered why the neck couldn't be replaced. AXE®
A repair is less expensive, and usually when done correctly the repair renders the headstock stronger than original. And yes set necks can be removed rather easily.
